Comprehensive Dental Exams
Our team performs a thorough examination of the teeth, gums, and mouth to assess your oral health. During your visit, dental x-rays will be taken. This allows us to detect cavities between your teeth that may not be easily seen. We will keep a record of the dental and medical history and discuss a tailored treatment plan for ongoing success.
Preventative Cleanings & Care
We recommend scheduling regular checkups at Priority Dental every 6 months. During your appointment, our team will discuss your child’s oral hygiene and review your dental health program with you to encourage great dental care at home. We look for irregularities in the oral cavity like masses and ulcers. Discolored areas are also suspicious and need to be investigated.
After thoroughly inspecting all areas of the mouth, palpation is done using our fingers.
Dental X-Rays
We use digital radiography, the latest in x-ray technology, to help monitor your growth and development of the mouth, teeth, and jaw. We use the most up to date equipment and techniques with the dedication to continued education to ensure you receive the best care available.
Periodontal Exam
Around each tooth, there is a space, or “pocket,” where it connects to the gums. The deeper these pockets, the greater your likelihood of gum disease. Deep pockets show that your gums have pulled away from your teeth. These pockets are the perfect place for bacteria to grow. Eventually, gum disease can weaken your gums and jawbone to the point that your teeth may loosen and fall out. Dr. Kong uses a thin metal instrument, called a periodontal probe, to measure each periodontal pocket. You may hear your dentist calling out numbers to the dental assistant. Each number refers to the depth of the pocket in millimeters.
